STRENGTHENING CULTURE EDUCATION

Minikronieken is a cultural education method with which students make short films with life stories in projects of 6 to 8 weeks, supervised by professional documentary makers .

Pupils…

  • are motivated to collaborative and self-regulated learning in small groups
  • choose tasks that match their talents
  • broaden their perspective on the world through an in-depth conversation with someone outside the school
  • act as independent individuals and choose their own approach
  • feel the ownership of their final production and direct their films themselves
D&P BASIC – FRAMEWORK – GTL

Our teaching program for VMBO schools meets the exam requirements of the D&P profile and is also interesting as an optional subject for MVI and for pilot schools of the Nieuwe Leerweg.

TEACHER TRAINING

In addition to complete projects, Minikronieken also offers individual 5-day teacher training courses. These give depth to filmmaking and take away the cold feet. Because making a documentary isn’t just fun, it’s also surprisingly easy to do, even if you’re not into cameras.

"In the beginning it was very exciting to talk to someone you don't know."

"You learn very well to check whether everything works before you do the interview."

"You get to know your students differently because they come up with their own approach."

"At first we thought it was boring, but it turned out to be a lot of fun"

Instructional materials

The assignment cards deal with the knowledge components of the profile modules according to a continuous learning line. Skills in one assignment are reflected in the next.

The knowledge clips are in simple language and connect seamlessly with the assignments and the production process. The technical terms correspond to the national final exam terms.

The teacher keeps track of the progress of each group via the production file, while professional filmmakers guide the students step by step through the production process.
