Information for film course participants

The Minichronicle film course will start on November 13, 2018. This will take place during 10 Tuesday evenings and is meant for residents of Almelo, Borne and Hengelo.

Are you a newcomer in the Netherlands and would you like to learn how to make a short documentary? Sign up and create a film about someone from the Netherlands who you haven’t met before!

During the 10-week-long course, you will learn everything about video production: interviewing – camera – sound – editing. You will get training once a week, which will be run by experienced filmmakers and you will be helped during the production process of your film.

More information:

During this Minichronicle project, the participants will create film portraits about people that have started a new life.

You will learn how to make a documentary in a group of 14 people. Half of the group will be Dutch and the other half will consist of newcomers. Together, they will participate in 10 evening classes on film and interview techniques. Every participant will create a movie about someone else’s life. You will film with your own smartphone or camera.

You will be given a list of people of which you can choose one to feature in your film. This person will be your storyteller. Every newcomer will choose a Dutch storyteller and every Dutch person will choose a newcomer. You will meet your storyteller 3 times. You will get to know your storyteller during the first meeting, interview your storyteller during the second and film the life of your storyteller during your third meeting.

Outside the 10 classes, you will need approximately 30 hours to complete your film production. You will receive a certificate of participation once you finish the course.

The films will be professionally polished and will premiere on March 10, 2019. The premiere will take place in Kulturhus Borne.
